What are drain lines?
Drain lines are the pipes that clean and disperse water from your septic tank through the ground to creeks, streams, and rivers. If your drain lines are clogged, they can’t accept incoming water. Then, your septic system could break down, and water that has not been cleaned properly could spread and contaminate the environment surrounding your home.
Why is Line Jetting important?
Our team uses line jetting to provide both preventative maintenance and corrective solutions. Here’s what our line-jetting services can do for you:
- Flush roots, sludge, and solids out of your drain lines
- Determine why your tank keeps overflowing
- Check whether the system is accepting water
- Clear drain lines blocking out water
- Extract grease, hair, soaps, and residue from fabric softeners and laundry detergent
- Restore the drain lines without needing to replace parts
- Minimize root build-up
- Prevent backing up, flooding, and future septic issues
- Prevent contaminated water from spreading and harming the surrounding environment
How often do I need Line Jetting?
We recommend getting your drain lines jetted every other time we come to pump your septic tank. We suggest line jetting to our customers only when it absolutely needs to be done. If you take care of your septic system, line jetting will need to be done less frequently.
Proper septic system maintenance
If you put in the effort to maintain your septic system, you’ll not only keep your family and environment safe and healthy, but you’ll also save money. Septic failure is a lot more expensive than maintenance fees, and unusable septic systems can drastically lower your property value.
To maintain a quality septic system:
- Be conservative with your water use
- Never pour grease, cooking oils, or fats down the drain
- Avoid pouring excess bleach, antibacterial hand soap, and fabric softener down the drain
- Avoid flushing feminine products, baby wipes, “flushable” wipes, hypodermic needles, and toys
- Don’t make a regular habit of putting waste down the garbage disposal
- Repair or replace leaking toilets and faucets in your home promptly
- Divert gutters away from your septic system
- Never drive over your septic tank or drain lines
- Have your tank pumped regularly (and line-jetted semi regularly)
- Make sure your septic system is covered with grass to prevent soil erosion
