Keep your system working smoothly with our preventative pumping services

A well-maintained septic system should last about 20 years. However, septic systems require routine maintenance to continue operating smoothly and properly. Septic pumping is the best way to avoid septic emergencies and extend the life of your system.

Why is septic tank pumping important?

When too much waste builds up in the tank, the septic system cannot work to its maximum capacity. When you don’t pump the tank as frequently as it needs to be, the build-up can cause your entire system to crash.

In addition to removing waste from your septic system, pumping allows us to remove any roots that have penetrated the system, a common problem if you don’t have us come pump your tank regularly.

Why is Septic Tank Plumbing important?

How often should my septic tank be pumped?

We suggest you pump your septic tank every 3-5 years. When we pump your tank, we remove waste that has built up with time and use and restore your septic system to optimal condition. If more than 3 or 4 people live in your home, you should pump about every 3 years. If you live alone or with one other person, your pumping routine should be every 4-5 years.

Here are some other signs that your septic tank needs to be pumped:

  • Your toilet, bathrooms, and sinks make a gurgling noise
  • Your toilets and drains are backed up or not flushing
  • Puddles and standing water form in your yard around your septic tank
  • Occasionally, odd smells in come from the bathroom closest to the septic tank

How can I prevent septic problems?

When you flush or pour certain items and products down your toilet or other household drains, your septic tank can stop functioning properly. Believe it or not, certain products that kill bacteria — like bleach or antibacterial hand soap — can create excessive build-up in your tank.

To maintain a quality septic system:

  • Be conservative with your water use
  • Never pour grease, cooking oils, or fats down the drain
  • Avoid pouring excess bleach, antibacterial hand soap, and fabric softener down the drain
  • Avoid flushing feminine products, baby wipes, “flushable” wipes, hypodermic needles, and toys
  • Don’t make a regular habit of putting waste down the garbage disposal
  • Repair or replace leaking toilets and faucets in your home promptly
  • Divert gutters away from your septic system
  • Never drive over your septic tank or drain lines
  • Have your tank pumped regularly (and line-jetted semi regularly)
  • Make sure your septic system is covered with grass to prevent soil erosion

“Great service. Needed a pump as I was starting to get back-flow. They reworked their schedule so they could come out same day, and wouldn’t leave until they made sure there were absolutely no more issues! Will definitely use them in the future.”
