SAVE ONEY AND CREATE EASY ACCESS WITH OUR SEPTIC TANK AND LIFT STATIONS RISERS

Septic tanks and lift stations should typically not be more than 6 inches below the ground. But there are exceptions. Tanks and lift stations may occasionally be installed lower than 6 inches to create an effective gravity fall. If this is the case, you’ll need a riser.

What is gravity fall?

Gravity fall is the process in which septic water runs down to its intended location — nearby creaks, streams, and ditches — without a pump tank, plumbing replacement, or foundation readjustment. To meet gravity fall requirements, your septic system needs to match the contour of the ground, which may mean installing your septic tank deeper than 6 inches below the ground.

Why is Septic Tank Plumbing important?

What is a Riser?

A riser is just what it sounds like: a part that is used to raise the opening of your septic tank or lift station to the surface. Our team can install a riser to bring the tank opening flush to the ground or slightly above the ground.

Why are risers important? If your septic tank or lift station is located deep in the ground and you don’t have a riser, septic repair crews will have a difficult time locating your tank. When this happens we’ll likely have to spend extra time digging to find the opening. Not only can a riser save you from acquiring unattractive holes in your yard, but it can also save you money!

Different Types of Risers

Coastal Septic Solutions can install a wide variety of risers to best fit your system’s needs. Here are some of the different riser types we install:

  • Concrete
  • Tuf-Tite
  • Polylok

We also install lift station risers!

A lift station is an extra tank that is separated from the septic tank to allow water to travel to the designated area, whether to the nearest sewer or your drain lines.

We install lift stations if your septic tank is too far away from the drain field for the water to travel effectively to your drain lines without a little help in the middle. Additionally, we may install an uphill lift station to create the necessary gravity fall.

How can I prevent septic problems?

When you flush or pour certain items and products down your toilet or other household drains, your septic tank can stop functioning properly. Believe it or not, certain products that kill bacteria — like bleach or antibacterial hand soap — can create excessive build-up in your tank.

To maintain a quality septic system:

  • Be conservative with your water use
  • Never pour grease, cooking oils, or fats down the drain
  • Avoid pouring excess bleach, antibacterial hand soap, and fabric softener down the drain
  • Avoid flushing feminine products, baby wipes, “flushable” wipes, hypodermic needles, and toys
  • Don’t make a regular habit of putting waste down the garbage disposal
  • Repair or replace leaking toilets and faucets in your home promptly
  • Divert gutters away from your septic system
  • Never drive over your septic tank or drain lines
  • Have your tank pumped regularly (and line-jetted semi regularly)
  • Make sure your septic system is covered with grass to prevent soil erosion
